Speckled hellebore
The hellebores are among the first to appear in the spring, and come into full bloom in April.

The bleeding heart, which stands over three feet tall now, is full of blooming stems.

Euphorbia polychroma is almost blindingly bright in bloom. Here a single grape hyacinth peeks through the mound of flowers.

If you were going to choose one flower to describe April, it would be "daffodil". This is 'Fortissima'.

I have mixed feelings about the wild violets; so beautiful yet they quickly become pests and would gladly take over the world if allowed.

The species tulips bloom in April; here are the tardas, looking suspiciously like fried eggs...
