autumn colors

all the colors are beginning to turn.
the colder weather at the moment is a welcome change.
i have such a want for change at the moment...

mom, wait for me!

he was running to catch up with his mom.

this time of year is a little scary cause the stags seem more fearless than they usually do. i make sure i am nowhere near them and preferably out of sight too!

i should really make a set dedicated to this little guy.

the clearing

i just love photographing the deer. it's also a great challenge for me to try and come up with a new and interesting photo each time i see them.

light and dark

i've been craving a little more zoom lately, leading me to looking up the nikon 200-400 f4. i'm renting one soon and i'm scared it will be so good i'll have to buy one..

bokeh at dawn

i've come to realise lately that i'm completely obsessed with bokeh.. but only trying to use it to make the photo more effective as a whole.

the forecast for this morning was fog so i headed out in hope, but it just turned out to be dull and not very foggy. :(

i did find this tiny little guy though!

little explorer IV

another from this series!
getting focus was a little bit tricky, i resorted to manual focus for this one.
if you look closely he's chewing on a twig :)

is this what heaven looks like?

a few mornings ago i was treated to a spectacle of incredibly rare light. it had rained the night before leaving the ground quite wet, so wet that the sun reflecting off the long grass overexposed it completely. it is actually all real and not artificial at all!

i'm quite in love with the effect.

little explorer III

yep, i believe it's the same little guy, i found him again on a different morning (the photo before he was with his momma!)
i still have a few more from this mini series to come, i thought the bokeh here was amazing so i had to post it.
my over exposure of the wet grass was completely on purpose, i wanted to keep some detail in the deer, they would have been silhouettes otherwise.

little explorer V

i think this will be the last one from this series for now. for this shot i waited patiently knowing he was on the other side of those ferns hoping he would peek through, and he did!

i do have more photos of this little guy to come, i'm sure he will become quite frequent in my photostream :)

little explorer

this little guy didn't mind me being around at all. he was quite inquisitive at first, almost walking right up to me but stopping a few meters away. and his momma was close by the whole time.

little explorer II

here's this little guy again :)
i'm only 90% satisfied with this one so consider it an outtake!

i'm really enjoying wildlife photography at the moment, i find it difficult getting things perfect so it's quite a welcome challenge.

bliss

i'm sure the deer are getting used to having me around now, either that or i'm getting better at not scaring them off!

and for the people that don't use the new flickr yet- view large

i'm trying my best to keep up my wildlife series, it's really quite a challenge.
many of you said i should continue it, so thank you!

a whole new world

my wildlife photography continues!
i love finding deer in landscape scenes, at least if i can manage not to scare them off. those deer sure like to sprint away at the tiniest amount of movement i might make, if one starts to move the rest will follow! :(

all the ferns are growing back and it's incredible to see, it's really like a whole new world compared to the winter.. so very lush and green. the air smells of ferns too which is a quite a unique but lovely fresh smell.

once upon a time

so my wildlife photographer series continues! i'm not sure it's going to last much longer though...

looking back on this i wish i had taken this from a lower point of view. but oh well, maybe next time. you live and learn! if you view large you may see little specs lit up in the air, these are a lot of tiny flies!

deep in the forest

i don't specifically go out to shoot wildlife but i will always take the oppurtunity! here i feel the deer adds something special to this image. i wish i could have got this shot a bit higher quality but the light was so dim and i was shooting handheld. this was the single frame i captured before she ran off.

i'm finding it increasingly difficult taking a photo upto my personal standards.

however the frosty mornings at the moment are lovely and crisp, and quite inspiring too.

i watched this fawn and his mom play in the leaves for about half an hour!
they had fun digging, jumping around and making leaves fly everywhere.

mom, i can't reach!

i watched these two for a while, the mom was eating the last few fresh leaves that were left on the branches. the fawn watched intently, but couldn't quite reach!
