A Thousand Words' Smile
This smile is worth a thousand words.
This afternoon I took this portrait at a few meters from Bivi Razaia Masjid, a small mosque, which is in the chawk of Varanasi (Benaras).
This young man was spreading silk sarees to dry on the upper terrace.
He was happy to see me again as I was coming with a few picture prints that I took last week.
I wanted him to smile and not to strike a frozen pose that most of the people oftenly take when they look at cameras in India.
He was shy so I had to make him laugh.
He felt easy, he was happy to become for a moment a kind of hero like in Bollywood movies.
In a few secondes I made his day and in return he gave me this smile.

Big smile
I often wonder why people can't randomly smile and be happy. Well this guy proved me wrong. As I was coming out of the subway station, he opened the door for me and smiled. His big smile grabbed my attention so I asked him for a photograph and he joyfully agreed. As I was half-pressing to get a focus lock, I asked him why he was so happy, he simply smiled and said "Why wouldn't I be."
