necklace global sml
Global view of green clay, PMC standard necklace pieces. Bronze and copper washers link the pieces. Pieces are turned over with some of the tubing set for linking. The solid discs will be applied to the backs once all the linking and tubing is complete. Once the clay is set in place permanently (glued with slip or water) the entire piece will be fired together.

necklace detail of linking sml
close up of linking detail. Pencil marks to remind me of placement of pieces can be seen. The bronze washers are smaller than the copper ones, so the tubing has to be of a smaller diameter. The tubing for the connection of the copper washers shows a snug fit. Once the clay is fired it shrinks about 33%, so there will be more room for rotation on the washers at that time. The outer tubing pieces will have a single hole drilled to allow attachment of the neck chain for the piece.
