The Amazing Heart: our first year

Slideshow by Elizabeth O. Weller

Our mission: My dream has long been to develop an agriculturally based center for individuals who have been impacted by some sort of trauma or loss. By harnessing the therapeutic benefits of creative and physical work, I aim to provide a safe space for members of the local community to engage in emotional work and healing, to gain access to community resources and to learn to use personal and community supports while providing themselves, their families and the local community with locally grown, fresh food. In 2008, my husband and I bought a home on 6.5 acres in Orrtanna, PA. We moved here after my graduation from Harvard Divinity School in June of 2009. We have spent our first summer here working to establish ¼ acre of Certified Naturally Grown gardens. Our goal is to have 2 cultivated acres and 40 CSA shares within the next five years. Enjoy this brief viewin of our first year!

a colorful celebration of this years harvest

?Growing food is the most basic use of the natural resources of the Earth, and through food production. we make our own working landscapes. How each society or nation produces and distributes food in large measure determines its identity.?

A blush: hearts filled with Joy

"A tinge like a blush which one tried to check and then, as it spread, one yielded to its expansion, and rushed to the farthest verge and there quivered and felt the world come clower, swollen with some astonishing significance, some pressure of rapture..."
V. Woolf

experimental salad mix

This is what my CSA members are getting this week. And probably next. Just a mix of my baby greens: kale, swiss chard, romaine, endive, arugula, mustard greens.
