Gladiola
This is my first year growing gladiolas. My mom used to grow them when I was young. Hummingbirds love them, but I haven't been able to get a shot of one yet.

The Heavens Declare
I was outside the other night calling Leslie to come in. As I looked up into the night sky, this is something like what I saw... and it took my breath away.

Spotted Jewelweed
The juice from the spotted jewelweed can be used for skin ailments, such as poison ivy, eczema, insect bites, and rashes. The seed pod is really cool, but I'd rather show you than tell you about it. Or you can Google it if you really wanna know. (^_~)

I went to a youth group all-nighter, and one of the groups did a light presentation using white gloves and a black light. It was really cool!

Fear No Evil
A firefighter atop one of the emergency vehicles standing by last night. Earlier in the afternoon, an oil delivery truck came to deliver oil, because we were completely out. Before pumping the oil, it rolled over into a sludge pit. It took over 8 hours of prep and transferring oil from one truck to another before the job of removing the truck was complete. Thankfully, no one was hurt. The driver was just quite shaken.

Metallic Iridescence
I found this Dogbane Leaf Beetle (Chrysochus auratus Fabricius) in my garden today and ran back into the house to grab my son's camera with macro lens, hoping the beetle would still be there. The colors seem to change as you view it from different perspectives. See my reflection on its back? ... lol.

A portrait of 'Forest', my sister-in-law's Jack Russell terrier. She's growing old... and not quite as spunky as she used to be. This old chair sits on a porch. The sun had gone down behind the trees, so the natural lighting was beautiful. I'm really happy with how this turned out. =)
