Veronica "Georgia Blue"
This is a creeping veronica, "Georgia Blue", with intense blue flowers. They seem to sparkle thanks to their white centers.

May is all about new beginnings, including a re-boot of this perennial bed.

The alliums begin their long run in May. This is "Purple Sensation" which no garden should be without.

Lily of the Valley bouquet
Nobody can beat the charm and fragrance of lily-of-the-valley. We forgive his thuggish personality.

Lilac
No slouch in the fragrance department, the Dwarf Korean lilac bloomed for nearly three weeks, filling the surrounding area with it's lovely scent.

The generosity of the peonies meant there were lots and lots of peony bouquets this year.

Hemerocallis flava
The old-fashioned species daylily, another fragrant favorite. Our grandmothers called it the lemon lily.

The vegie garden was busy too with beans, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants and potatoes all being planted.

Honeysuckle
The honeysuckles started blooming in May. This is "Dropmore Scarlet" a non-invasive hybrid of the American native.

The epitome of exotic, the oriental poppies showed off their crinkled paper flowers. This is "Beauty of Livermore"

Birdbath garden - May
Alliums, peonies, lady's mantle and Siberian iris create an especially lovely setting for a bath.
