Journey
The hills down here were dry. They certainly got wet in the week following this photo.

Trying to get away from Mummy who wants to put her in the backpack.

Lake Rotokura
A sacred lake to Maori. It supposedly has healing waters but I was too nervous of giardia to try it on my tooth. On good days you can see the mountain reflected in the lake.

Tim looking for brown barbaloots and swamee swans. Rod looking for photo opportunities.

Lake Rotokura Walk
You must pick up leaves or rocks to take home apparently.

End of the lava flow
Yes we went walking in this misty rain. The things you do in search of a photo! This is the Taranaki Falls walk on Mt Ruapehu.

On the way to Taranaki Falls
My usual view of Rod as he strides ahead in search of his photographic goal while I trudge along behind with the kids. Charming weather no?

Lake Taupo (southern end) & surrounds
Turangi off the right, Tokaanu to the right. Power station just to the right - you can see the tailrace curving round the conical hill in the foreground. Great cloudscape that my happy snappy can't capture, but Rod's more sophisticated equipment did.

Lake Rotopounamu
I got her out just after this and she went and jumped in the lake edge!

Lake Rotopounamu
Tim has a drink of my water bottle which is somehow superior to his own.

Frog @ Lake Rotopounamu
See him? He's pretty camoflaged. We think it's a Southern Bell Frog - an introduced species.

Lake Rotopounamu
Much better photo when it's not directly into the light. You can see why it got it's name of "greenstone lake"

Sleeping beauty
Ghastly picture of me. I never look my most glam when tramping. Tim looks like he's eaten magic mushrooms. Lydia is asleep in the backpack - how can she do that!? Must get a crick in her neck.
