Chunks of ice in the waters of Lake Michigan create shifting reflection patterns of moonlight past the snow covered cliffs of Cave Point in Door County, Wisconsin.

Yes it was cold. Very cold.

A Queen Anne kind of sky

A field of dried and brown Queen Anne's lace sits under a sky that reveals what their delicate tufts of white used to look like on earth.

Cornfield sunset

The setting sun paints the sky beyond a cornfield in northern Illinois. A blended shot of two exposures - one for the sky and one for the cornfield - blended in Photo Shop. Poor man's HDR.

An earlier attempt at shot blending can be found here.

Kewaunee mist

Icy winds create a mist over the water of Lake Michigan near Kewaunee Wisconsin. Arctic winds passing over the warmer lake waters picked up the moisture and dumped it on Michigan on the other side of the lake as a blinding snowstorm - you can see the clouds forming in the distance.

This photo was selected Photo of the Day at Earthshots.org for February 9, 2007.

Snow lines

If autumn is when God?s palette is worked to the limit, then winter is when the whole scene is painted over in white and begun again.

A fish out of water

The beach and sky, the cloud formation and the stars came from three separate photos combined in Photo Shop. While strolling through Racine Wisconsin, I noticed a cloud formation that bore a striking resemblance to an angelfish, so I snapped it quickly hoping to find a use for it sometime. This image is that use - the beach and sky photo, while pleasing, just seemed to lack a certain something. The fish cloud supplies that certain something.
