Ousted!

After two years as President of the Senate of the Republic of the Philippines, Manuel Villar was ousted from his office by his colleagues. Allegedly, he was ousted due to his poor leadership style (i.e. lack of consultation), and his involvement in the C5 Highway controversy. It is also believed that he was ousted due to his bid for presidency in 2010. Currently, Villar ranks 1st in the surveys for those who bid for the Presidency. Veteran Senator Juan Ponce Enrile replaced him as the new Senate President.

On a lighter note, Villar graciously accepted the ouster and turned over the Presidency to Enrile. Enrile disclosed that prior to this event, he talked to Villar about the resolution to ouster him. Thus, a graceful exit was done...he resigned from the position. On the other hand, Enrile also graciously accepted the position, in the exigency of service to the Filipino Nation.

PING on the hot seat

He started the PhP200 million congressional insertion controversy. Do the Filipino people believe him? Now that Sen. Joker Arroyo has pointed out some mis-information in his expose, he is the one on the hot seat. Is he telling the truth or not?

JOKER lays down his aces

In the past two weeks, the controversy over the PhP200 million congressional insertion in the extension of the C-5 Road project has been the issue in the Philippine Senate. Senator Panfilo Lacson made the revelation in his privilege speeches and insinuated no other then Senate President Manuel Villar as the one who allegedly made the double entry in the budget. Lacson also insinuated a possible kick-back in the project. Senator Arroyo (not related to President Arroyo) rose in defense of the Senate President. In his next privilege speech, Lacson accused Arroyo of covering up for the Senate President.

In his privilege speech today, September 23, Senator Arroyo stood up to defend his earlier position. Complete with a powerpoint presentation pointed out there was no double insertion. Rather, the congressional insertion of PhP200 milion in the 2008 budget was, in fact, an additional budget for the said road project.

Kamikazee

They simply rock! They brought the house down! I am glad I am on the side of the stage and was not one among those whom he sprayed with mineral water! LOLs!

Kamikazee is a rock band from the Philippines composed of Jay Contreras (lead vocalist), Jomal Linao (guitars/back-up vocals), Led Zeppelin Tuyay (guitars), Jason "Puto" Astete (bass) and Allan "Bords" Burdeos (drums). (Wikipedia)
