Winner Tour de France 1913, 1914 + 1920
The Belgian Philippe Thys (1890 - 1971) Nickname: the Basset.
Winner of the Tour de France 1913, 1914 and 1920.
And of Paris-Tours in 1917 and 1918.
And the Tour of Lombardy 1917.
More on Philippe Thys.
Philippe Thys and Frits Wiersma knew each other.
Frits had no ambitions to ride the Tour de France.
But he had loved to do Milan - San Remo ('la classica di Primavera') once, as he did Paris-Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders once (not in the same year). He tried to go to Milan in the 1920s, but could not get it organized for himself (not the right contacts).
