Common blue (female)
This is the first shot of a female common blue butterfly for me. There have been quite a few males around but this is the only female i've seen.(Gaddon Loch)

Sedge warbler
It took me a good hour to get this shot of a sedge warbler at Fifeness yesterday. It showed itself only briefly and even then it was very difficult to get a clear shot.

This is a large red damselfly i found on the east lomond hill today.

Green hairstreak
A good find today was this beautiful green hairsteak butterfly. I found this during a walk in the lomond hills earlier today.

Goldcrest
The goldcrest is Britains smallest bird. They usually nest high up in conifers but this one is in gorse at the path round Birnie loch , less than a metre high. The nest was quite open but still blended well with the gorse and the yellow crest on the bird looks just like one of the flowers on the bush.

Comma Butterfly in Fife
This is my first ever comma butterfly shot. These are very rare in scotland so couldn't beleive my eyes today when i saw this one at Charlottetown.

This red squirrel was so busy eating a pine cone that i was able to get quite close to it in charlottetown wood.

I think this is a bee or hoverfly but not sure. It was sitting on some gorse at Charlottetown pond.

Turned very cold today again so this robin was happy to feed from my hand at Birnie loch.

Sparrowhawk
This sparrowhawk landed in the garden today . It was after the house sparrows that were hiding in the clematis and actually climbed inside it trying to get them.It stayed for a good ten minutes so once i managed to get my wife Wendy away from the window i got a few decent shots.

Cygnet
The birnie loch swan family are doing very well. All eight cygnets were with mum and dad today. I took lots of photos of them and this is one of my favs !

Brown Hare
I was crouched low down behind a small wall at the edge of a field at rossie bog when i took this shot. I was very lucky as a minute later a couple of walkers came by and he was off !
