Antique Bakelite Compass
Slideshow by Nori's Finecrafted Fotos
This antique compass is brown in color and still has its original leather cord, which shows some age cracks. The compass features a 1-1/2" diameter, scalloped bezel in which the actual compass is set. At the other end is a round bead, approximately 1/2" in diameter. The total piece, when the string is held taut, is about 5-1/2" long. It attaches easily to any strap, such as a belt loop or backpack strap by looping the ends around the strap and threading the compass end through the string on the other side of the strap. I am, by no means, an expert on antiques, but I did have a friend of mine take a look at this piece. He was sure it was bakelite by the sheen of the piece. If you have any additional question, please don't hesitate to ask.
