Davenport
Apparently those columns below used to hold up a pier. Originally made by Capt. John Davenport in the mid 1800's for hauling in whale blubber (the whales come very, very close to the coast here). Eventually Davenport used the pier for other goods. In the lovely tree we have a bird (a cormorant?) drying out its wings. We missed an opportunity to make it down to that beach by about 15 minutes. The tide was just beginning to rise again and it had cut us off. We looked for another way down there for about 45 minutes before it got too dark. Next time :)

Lone Tree
Unexpected work took me into the central highlands of Tasmania. The six-hour drive should have been laden with photo ops, but the weather was so bleak and stormy I took only two (apart from the photo shoot). This is one of them.
