I beg your pardon?!
His expression seemed to be one of shocked indignance, as though a suggestion had just offended him.

Dream of the Matador
Plaza de Toros - Ronda, Spain
An excerpt from my travelogue:
"Yesterday morning I went to the Plaza de Toros, which was built in 1785 and is one of the oldest bullfighting stadiums in Spain. As a pacifist, I obviously cannot condone bullfighting, however I went there at 10 in the morning just to see it. Since nobody in Spain wakes up before noon, I was the sole person inside the place. I walked right out to the center of the bullring, and standing there alone in the quiet I could almost hear the roar of the crowd. I think it would be amazing to go back in time and see the spectacle that it was in the early 1800's..."

Nuclear Fusion
Lightpainting experiment. Have a look at the large version to see all the details - for example the "ripples" on the surface of the "containment vessel".

Sunrise at Padre Bay
Sunrise near Gunsight Butte, Lake Powell, UT/AZ.
The white "bathtub" line on the cliff is over 100' above the water, to give you a sense of the immense scale of this place.

A pair of doves preening in a papaya tree
Spotted doves bring out the worst in me; and that includes alliteration.
Apparently this is a tradition in Bengal (see lokenrc below), perhaps including the alliteration. See doves in a less traditional setting.

Singa's nose (best seen larger or maybe not....)
Singa is a pharaohound and therefore her nose is and should be pinkish brown to follow eye- and coatcolour. Eyes and nose will darken a bit with age though.
Do you think I should crop it more?
I've been sick and in bed for weeks so I've been playing around a bit, trying to take close-ups and realized how (even more) difficult it is indoors. The flash and the light from the windows make a total mess of most of my attempts. And the poor dogs are getting sick and tired of me :)

African White-Backed Vultures
On Black
This old-world vulture has a bare head and sparse yellowish or whitish down on the back of the neck. Length is about 3 feet, and weight about 12 pounds. The wingspan is over 7 feet. This bird cannot fly far without using thermals to permit long glides. It often flies over 30 miles to find food. It often perches near cattle kraals, where it expects dead livestock to be available. Because its bill is weak it must feed on the innards and soft flesh of the animal after hyenas or jackals have opened up the carcass. The bird is quite gregarious at feeding sites and at its roost in tall trees, making throaty squawks, hisses, and pig-like squeals. They roost in groups until two or three hours after dawn, and return to the roost about three hours before dark. They often gorge themselves until they are too full to fly. Breeding takes place from August to April. They may make their own nests of sticks and leaves held together by guano, or they take over old nests of storks, eagles or secretary birds. Both male and female share in the incubation of the single egg, and in caring for the chick until it can fly at about six weeks of age. They will not breed if food is scarce.

Rooster
This is an ordinary, run of the mill, rooster...but he has a great personality! Oh. No. He is not my pet. He is a wild rooster living in a park nearby, and living among feral cats, raccoons, skunks, and other assorted animals. He has survived amongst them, and I think he very well deserves a place in Flickr.

Eagle's Eye
This fellow was really handsome. We were sitting acoss from each other within an armlength's (or winglength's) distance. There was only a wire-mesh fence between us. I was still a bit afraid to get closer because of the big beak. I wouldn't like to risk even my UV filter. But I guess that's pretty close enough...
