Just the 3 of us
From barrio Intavas we started out our hike around 7:10am.
It was the first time I was hiking with an all-women's group..and yes, just the 3 of us!

So near yet so far away...
Mt. Kitanglad looming in the background. We were blessed to have a sunny, and clear day last Sunday.
Mt. Kitanglad looks very near here but our guide warned us not to get fooled as it takes 7-8 hours of hike to get to the summit.

Mt. Kitanglad hike
Harvesting the carrots
The farmers were selling these carrots to us for 20 Pesos per kilo. It's very cheap. We wanted to buy a few kilos but we were still on our way up and adding another weight to our heavy load is already too much.

Mt. Kitanglad hike
A carrot given to me by one of the farmers. Each of us were given one. We peeled the skin and munched the carrots along the trail.

Kagawad
Aside from the climbing permit from PAMB (Protected Area Management Board) you need to hire a local guide to be able to climb Mt. Kitanglad. This is also one way of helping out the locals earn a livelihood.
Our guide, Kagawad Walter. A person who's very concerned with the environment.
