Periodically Scout says that it cannot find my username - why is this?

I have been having the same problem for a while now. I can only access my scout data using my email address, not my username, which it says it cannot find. :o(

I have not changed my username. I had this problem when I first tried to access Scout, then it just went away. Another strange thing just happened. When I tried to sign in here, I was not recognized and had to register again!

I have the same problem. And I haven't changed my username - recently or at all! I posted a question re this and the response was to look in the FAQ!!! (I did and found nothing to explain it). I understand about photos dropping in and out of Explore - but these should all be listed as they all date from well after Scout started keeping fuller records. I have no idea what has happened, but I 'd like it fixed!! I guess I just have to hope that the gremlin disappears - as of today the problem still exists.

So I am not alone with this problem. Anne, like you, I did have all my Explore pictures showing (because I had "include dropped")then - POOF! - all gone the next time I logged on. Yes, let's hope the bug goes away.

I'm having the same problem. it says username not found. I never change my username or anything. how do I fix this problem. Other people also tried looking me up and they get the same thing username not found

I've just sent my username to "support" in the hope that this annoying glitch can be found and fixed.
After reading Knitty-cat's post, I tried with my almost-never-used yahoo email address. Guess what? All 11 of my Explore pictures come back - including one at 78!

It seems to have been fixed - thank you support! My username now can be 'found' by Scout. I hope this is a permanent fix and that this problem doesn't happen again

Guess what! It wasn't a permanent fix!
Yet again , Scout can't find my username - after one day! Support, can you please fix this problem? Judging by this and other threads, it seems to be widespread.

Me again. Sent my username in to support but the problem is still not fixed. There's a helpful notice at the top of the scout page that tells us to make sure that we are using our Flickr name and spelling it right and, I swear, I am! Help, please?

Still looking into the problem...
Something to remember: your Yahoo! login is NOT your Flickr username. Your Flickr username is the screenname or handle you see on your profile page.

I've talked with a developer at Flickr about this and a couple of folks who are experiencing the problem. Both Flickr.com and Bighugelabs.com are working correctly. It seems to be boiling down to this: either the wrong username is being entered or typed incorrectly OR the person is hiding his profile from searches.
Here are the things you can check:
- Always use your Flickr screen name and NOT your Yahoo! login. Your screen name is the name that appears on the top of your Flickr profile and is what you are known as on Flickr.
- If you are hiding your profile from searches your name will not be found unless you enter your email address or your Flickr User ID#. To change this setting go to http://www.flickr.com/account/prefs/privacy/?from=personal.
IF you are using your Flickr screen name AND you have checked your account settings and you are NOT hiding your profile AND you still get the username not found message, THEN please email support@bighugelabs.com with the following information:
Your Flickr username
A URL link to your profile page
A statement that you have checked your account and that you are not hiding your profile.I'll forward that information to Flickr where they can hopefully track down and resolve the issue, if any.

Yay! I'm found again! Thanks fd! This was the item that fixed it for me:
"- If you are hiding your profile from searches your name will not be found unless you enter your email address or your Flickr User ID#. To change this setting go to http://www.flickr.com/account/prefs/privacy/?from=personal."
Unchecking that box made knitty-cat visible to scout again!
