Come Around Again
Coypright:

It had been days since she'd been back. He wondered how long till she came around again this time. As Blake stood there on his front porch thinking to himself. He had a glass of whiskey in his right hand and half of a bottle in his left.
His mind went back to last week, as his girl, Dakota, stood right here on this porch. He could see her dressed in her full riding suit and carrying her riding satchel packed with just a few of her belongings. She waited for him to say something as she stood there crying, but a man's pride runs deep... sometimes too deep and he said nothing. Blake couldn't say what she needed to hear and he couldn't show her the way she needed to be showed. For a woman needs to be held, she needs to be loved and she needs her man to say he loves her.
The hot summer winds from the east where whipping around the posts and under the roof eaves. Blake turned towards the front door. Blake?s roughdry cattlemen?s hands reached out for the doorknob to turn it. He stopped for a moment, leaned his head upon the weathered wooden door and whispered... "Dakota I love you and I need you." He heard something and listened. For on the wind he heard a voice calling..."Blake honey..." The scent of Dakota's perfume came and tantalized his nose. "Sweetness of peach blossoms tastier than any honey," Blake spoke out loud. He turned and there was his woman, his lady, and his cowgirl... his wife standing at the foot of the porch stairs. She looked up at him and tears came to Blake's eyes as he reached out for Dakota and she fell into his arms and he said, "I love you. I can say it. Thank you my wife I am so glad you came around again."

This is the little fillie, Shilo. I took this shot of her when she was just a few days old. I thought she looked like she was in a bad mood. Her look reminded of "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" and the whole frump thing.

*I dunno about ya'll but there are times when I just have to take a few moments and really look long and hard at what a photograph is trying to tell me. Sometimes those lil voices in my head conversate for a bit before birth of what it was I was seein to begin with comes to fruition. Originally I had thought of posting this shot in its entirety but felt in my gut that there was somethin else here I was a tryin to give creedance too... hence it was the splash and slosh of the H2O that the horse was makin and the leading imagery of the cowboy directing the training of his fine animal. I think those of you who really understand what we "see" understand exactly what I am tryin to get across. Peace- CowGirlZen

In Color
I said grandpa whats this picture here its all black and white it aint real clear is that you there? He said yeah i was 11 times were tough back in '35 thats me and uncle Joe just tryin to survive a cotton farm in the great depression.
If it looks like we were scared to death like a couple of kids just trying to save each other you should've seen it in color.
Ohh and this one here was taken over seas in the middle of hell in 1943 in the winter time you can almost see my breath that was my tail gunner ole Johnny Magee he was a high school teacher from new Orleans and he had my back right through the day we left.
If it looks like we were scared to death like a couple of kids just trying to save each other you should've seen it in color.
A picture's worth a thousand words but you cant see what those shades of gray keep covered you should've seen it in color
This one is my favorite one. This is me and grandma in the summer sun all dressed up the day we said our vows. You can't tell it here but it was hot that June and that rose was red and her eyes were blue and just look at that smile I was so proud. Thats the story of my life right there in black and white
And if it looks like we were scared to death like a couple of kids just trying to save each other you should've seen it in color.
A pictures worth a thousand words but you cant see what those shades of gray keep covered you should have seen it in color.
You should have seen it in color
Yeah a pictures worth a thousand words but you cant see what those shades of gray keep covered you should have seen it in color.
