Common blue (female)
This is the first shot of a female common blue butterfly for me. There have been quite a few males around but this is the only female i've seen.(Gaddon Loch)

Chimney sweeper
A chimney sweeper moth on Auchtermuchty common. The light wasn't great and it didn't seem to be very photogenic as i had alot of problems trying to get a good shot. This was the best i could manage.

Orange tip (male)
I have been trying for weeks to get a photo of a male orange tip butterfly. Finally got this one today and although he wouldn't show his head this shot shows beautiful colour and details on the wings.

Comma Butterfly in Fife
This is my first ever comma butterfly shot. These are very rare in scotland so couldn't beleive my eyes today when i saw this one at Charlottetown.

Painted Lady
Took this in guardbridge where there is a very nice late flowering buddleja bush. I have seen up to five species of butterfly on this bush at the one time.

Red Admiral
This lovely red admiral was at gaddon loch last year. Dont think it was a great year for butterflies in general but this species was few and far between in my area.

Six Spotted Burnet Moth
This is a beautiful day flying moth. I love the red and black colour of them that is a warning to any would be predators and justly so as they actually contain traces of cyanide. This shot is from Gaddon loch last year.
