The World Famous Big Huge Warholizer (the WFBHW?) has just learned some new tricks. At the request of several users, in addition to the fabulous 3×3 style images you know and love, the Warholizer can now create 2×2 and 1×1 sized images. The new sizes are nicely suited for making fun avatars on sites like Flickr, Facebook, and Twitter.

(That’s me!) Give the new Warholizer a whirl…

Trying to make a cool background for your Twitter page? Try the Mosaic Maker and make a fun background from your photos.
First, decide if you want to tile your background or not. If you want to tile your background so that it fills the entire screen then create a mosaic in a rectangular or square format (for example, 3×2 or 5×5). If you want to use a static background along the left edge of the browser window, create a tall mosaic that is just 1 colulmn wide (for example, 1×10). To help the mosaic blend in, choose a border and background color that match your Twitter profile colors.
Of course, these are just guidelines to get you started. Go nuts. Have fun with it.
If you have Photoshop, SpoonGraphics has a great tutorial for making your own background from scratch.

Stumbled across this fun use of the Trading Card maker in the classroom from Karen Bosch:
Recently my sixth grade students have been working on a research project about our National Parks. One of their project choices was making a National Park trading card based on their research … The students loved making these cards. It is the kind of project that could be adapted to almost any subject. You could even have the students do these at home as a homework assignment as a fun way to publish a paragraph or report!
Read more about the project at Karen’s blog…

For the first time, after months and years of steady growth, Bighugelabs.com was visited by 1 million unique visitors in a 30 day period! 1,007,326 to be exact. Woo hoo! That’s quite a milestone around here and I’m incredibly proud to have created a service that so many people love. Thank you for visiting!
Also, I couldn’t have done it without Flickr, of course. Many of you are Flickr users (and if you’re not, you really should be) and heard about BigHugeLabs.com from a forum or one of your contacts there. BigHugeLabs’ popularity grew, primarily, from word-of-mouth advertising among Flickr users in the early days. In fact, it’s true to say that BigHugeLabs.com wouldn’t even exist without Flickr and the support of the fine folks there. Thanks!

After [many delays unforeseeable problems flat tire locusts] much procrastinating, it is finally possible to order prints of your mosaics created from your own images! Yay! Mosaics can be ordered in sizes from 8×10 inches all the way up through ginormous 20×24 inches. Mosaics are automatically adjusted depending on their shape (especially tiled mosaics) and your paper choice so they always look fantastic when printed.
New to the mosaic toy? Not only does it let you create really cool image grids, you can also choose from a selection of predefined templates to frame your photos.
